Although the Windows operating system includes a lot of settings for modifying its look and feel, an aspect has been neglected by the producers, no matter what version of Windows we are referring to. I am talking about changing the icons of the folders. Every folder looks exactly the same and it would be a very good idea to have individual icons for them. This way, certain important folders would be easier and quicker to spot. The user can turn to third party applications for changing folder icons. One of them is Lovely Folders. The program does not only change the icons of any folder, it can even change a folder's background.

Speaking about the installation process of Lovely Folders, there is not much to say, just the fact that it installs very quickly and requires only a few clicks for this. The operating systems supported are the ones included in the Windows family, ranging from XP to Windows 7. The program doesn't affect the computer's hard disk space, nor the system resources, as it takes up only 6 MB of hard disk space and it also requires low system resources.

Lovely Folders allows the user to select each folder for which the icon or the background will be changed. The program includes an impressive library of icons to choose from, but the user can select his own icon for using with a folder. The background of a folder can be any image stored on the hard disk. The text color can also be changed, to match a certain background and to make it easier to read. Lovely Folders includes an option for changing the icons for all the folders at once.

Templates can be used for applying the same icon and background settings to more icons at once. Lovely Folders includes an impressive list of languages to choose from.

Pros:
It can change the icon and the background for every folder. Besides that, it includes a large library of icons to choose from. Templates can be used for changing the icons for more folders at once.

Cons:
The number of options seems a bit limited and some controls and options are difficult to find.
